75 Anniversary of the coal miners massacre

Anniversary of the Coal Miners Massacre, to be held on Monday, November 18th, 2024, at the National Museum of the Unity, Enugu. The Event is powered by the coal miners legacy project, a coalition dedicated to preserving and honoring the legacy of the coal miners in Enugu. The Iva Massacre of  November 18th, 1949, was a turning point in Nigeria’s labour movement, with over 21 miners tragically losing their lives while protesting poor working conditions. This anniversary presents an opportunity to reflect on their sacrifices, engage  with history, and advocate for cultural preservation.
